Statement on Menopause Read in the Senate
The Right Honorable Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalio addressed the Senate of Canada today, urging action on the often-overlooked challenges of menopause and praising the Menopause Foundation of Canada and its leaders for their transformative work.
After laying out some key facts—menopause affects over 10 million Canadian women, with more than 30 symptoms impacting their mental, physical, and emotional well-being—Senator Ravalio emphasized that menopause is not just a health issue. “It is an age and gender equality issue, an economic issue and a workforce issue.”
“Let us build a Canada where menopause is recognized, supported, and understood,” he concluded, urging collective action to prioritize women’s health and well-being.
