Menopause and arthritis: Support, strategies and solutions

The webinar featured two expert voices who brought both clinical insight and practical guidance to the conversation. Dr. Iliana Lega, an endocrinologist and clinician scientist at Women’s College Hospital and the University of Toronto, walked participants through the stages of menopause and explained how hormonal changes can influence joint symptoms. She outlined evidence‑based treatment options—including hormone therapy and non‑hormonal approaches—and highlighted emerging research on the relationship between menopause and arthritis.

Complementing the clinical perspective, Lalitha Taylor, a registered dietitian and person living with arthritis, shared science‑based nutrition strategies to help manage inflammation and support joint health. Drawing on her professional expertise and lived experience, she offered realistic, everyday tips to help women navigate arthritis alongside menopausal symptoms, emphasizing the importance of self‑management and accessible lifestyle changes.
